Macedonia and Moldova started  an interesting match right on the beginning. In the 3rd minute Moldova had a big chance to score, but one of the strikers only hit the bar of Milosevski's goal. Few minutes later Stojkov had chance to take Macedonia in the lead. In the 6th minute he sent a shot from the right side and in the 13th minute he came alone with the goalkeeper Moraru, but in both situations the Moldovan goalkeeper was more successful.

Macedonia continued with the pressure over Moldova's goal but failed to break through the defence. Goran Pandev had good chance to score from free kick and later the captain Sedloski sent a header, but the goalkeeper Moraru saved their shots. Moldova mainly threatened with fast counter attacks and had another good chance in the 28th minute when one of their striker came alone in front but the goalkeeper Milosevski saved the ball.

Macedonia continued with the domination in the second half. Coach Srečko Katanec made few changes and gave the chance to all players from the bench. With the entrance of Demiri and Tasevski, the midfield played much better and Macedonia created few good chances. Goran Pandev used one of the chances in the 53rd minute and took Macedonia in the lead.

Towards the end of the match Tasevski had a big chance but his shot ended in the bar. Macedonia continued with the pressure over Moldovan goal, but their defenders and goalkeeper were more succesfull and kept the 1:1 score.
