Middlesbrough want Goran Popov

English club Middlesbrough are after Macedonian left wing-back Goran Popov. One of their scouts appeared on the stadium in Strumica to watch the friendly match against Canada and Middlesbrough will try to sign him during the winter transfer period.

According to "Makedonski Sport", Middlesbrough FC who now compete in the English Championship follow Goran Popov for long time and one of their scouts watched him on the friendly match against Canada played this Saturday. During the winter transfer window, Middlesbrough will try to sign him and help them win the promotion to the Premiership if an agreement is made about the transfer fee. Dutch side Heerenveen have set a minimum fee release clause of 4.000.000€ in his contract.

Goran Popov started his career in Belasica from Strumica and before moving to Heerenveen, he played for Serbian club Crvena Zvezda from Belgrade, Polish Odra Wodzislav and Greek clubs AEK Athens, Egaleo and Levadiakos. He had his debut for the Macedonian national team in 2004 and since then he made 27 appearances and scored two goals.
