Moment of the Turnovo - Chikhura gameMoment of the Turnovo - Chikhura gameEven with 10 men Chikhura beat Turnovo, while Metalurg recorded an expected win over UE Santa Coloma.

Turnovo started good in the game but despite the ball possesion and the attacking play, they failed to score a goal. Instead, it was the visitors who were more concrete in their counter attacks and eventually opened the score. In the 31st minute Giorgi Gabedava took a corner kick, the ball reached Lasha Kutchukhidze who escaped Jasmin Mecinovikj and with a header brought Georgians the lead. As the time passed by, it was obvious that Turnovo players aren't in good condition unlike the Georgians. Still, a glyph of hope for the hosts gave the direct red card for Chikhura's right midfielder Lasha Chikvaidze after a brutal start with open foot at Bojan Najdenov. 17 minutes into the second half and manager Goce Sedloski already made all the three substitutions, transforming the formation in a very attacking one as Turnovo was still loosing. Pandev was close to score in the 66th minute when fired a great shot from around 30 metres, but Somkhishvili made a good save. Churlinov had a great chance in the 86th minute when he was alone with Somkhishvili but first he hit the post and on the rebound the fired in the keeper. Until the final whistle Turnovo failed to at least tie the score meaning that they will have a mountain to climb in the return leg in Georgia if they want to advance in the next round. The winner of this outcome will face Turkish side Bursaspor.

It was obvious that Metalurg are firm favourites in the clash with Andorran side UE Santa Coloma. With an away win the Metallurgists practically clear even the smallest dilemma in this clash. Veteran player Mile Krstev deluded the hosts even after three minutes of play with Aleksandar Stojanovski doubling the lead in the 15th minute. More yellow cards the a real football occured in the rest of the game. Four minutes from time Marko Simonovski added a third for Metalurg. Seems like Metalurg already booked itself a place in the next round where will face the winner of the clash between Bosnian side Željezničar and Lovćen from Montenegro.

Two days ago, the third Macedonian representative in the Europa League also played its game. Shkendija defeated Moldovan side Zimbru with 2:1.

The return legs are scheduled for next Thursday. Turnovo and Shkendija will have road games, while Metalurg will play at the National Arena Philip II of Macedon.
