As previously announced by the senior national team coach Ljubinko Drulović, the U21 national team will be given preference since they are just starting a new qualifying cycle. Therefore, players like Darko Velkovski, Enis Bardi, David Babunski and Marjan Radeski, all recently capped by the senior squad, have been included in the U21 team. That means none of the U21 guys will be called upon for the Slovakia qualifier on June 14.

Going back to the U21 side, they will face Iceland on the road on June 11 in the capital city of Reykjavík. The game will be played at the Hlíðarendi stadium (home of Valur) with kick-off scheduled for 21.15 CET. It will be the opening match of qualifying in Group 3 as the other teams have their first fixtures set for September.

The Macedonian players will start preparations on May 27, while from June 3 they will resume a training camp in the city of Ohrid. Two standards players in goalkeeper Dejan Iliev of Arsenal U21 and right wing Valmir Nafiu of APOEL are missing due to injuries. Hristijan Denkovski also has a minor injury, but he will show up and the medical team will decide whether he is able to play or not.

19-year-old Australian-Macedonian Nicola Kuleski (Sydney FC) will also be part of the training camp, but his inclusion on the team will depend on whether he convinces the coaches of his qualities. Meanwhile, Phil Petreski, also based in Australia, did make the squad. Petreski was recently honored by his team Melbourne City as a NYL player of the year.
