David Mitov Nilsson is a 24-year-old Swedish goalkeeper of Macedonian descent (his mother is Macedonian). He currently plays at IFK Norrköping. In an interview for Expressen, Mitov Nilsson would not rule out the possibility of switching national teams in the future. He has been capped by Sweden in one friendly match, but that is not considered an official match. Thus, he could still switch in the future. For instance, Arijan Ademi also featured in a friendly for Croatia, but later agreed to play for Macedonia.

David was quoted as saying, "My mother is half-Macedonian and in the past there have been some talks with the Macedonian federation. However, now the interest is more serious and I am considering my options. It has been great playing for Sweden, but matches in European qualifiers as well as World Cup qualifiers are solid experience and look good on a CV for every young player. With Macedonia I can get that. Sweden has Andreas Isaksson as well as Kristoffer Nordfeldt at the position."

Macedonia, meanwhile, has Tome Pachovski who is 33 years old. The options behind him are less than impressive. His backups, guys like Martin Bogatinov and Kristijan Naumovski, have never been convincing. Furthermore, Naumovski just signed in Honk Kong. With that, he bid his national team status goodbye. Then, you have younger keepers like Stole Dimitrievski and Dejan Iliev, but they still mainly feature for the youth teams of their respective clubs.

Mitov Nilsson plays regularly as the #1 keeper for his club. He has kept 7 clean sheets in his 17 appearances this season. Furthermore, Expressen says his save percentage is 79%. His club is currently tied for first place with IFK Göteborg.
