Thirty minutes later, Trajkovski was fouled just outside of the penalty area, leading to a red card for an opponent. The subsequent free kick, taken by Trajkovski, was saved nicely by the keeper, but Alberto Gilardino scored on the rebound. Still, it was not enough as Palermo was bounced from the Italian Cup.

Gjoko Zajkov played all 120 minutes for Charleroi (includes extra time) at right-back, not his usual center-back position. Charleroi would fall short from advancing in the Belgian Cup after losing 5:4 in the penalty shoot-out.
