Vardar, Shkendija and Rabotnichki dominated the roster for the Macedonian side. In fact, 12 of the 18 players, or nearly 67%, came from those three teams (four each). Also, right-back Mevlan Murati (now on loan at Shkupi) is actually owned by Shkendija as well.

Both goalkeepers called up were late additions to the national team squad last month, but neither got a chance to play against Montenegro and Lebanon. Therefore, Angelovski will use this occasion to test Marko Jovanovski and Igor Aleksovski.

The defense consists of three Rabotnichki starters (Siljanovski, Ristevski and Cikarski). The other guys there are the aforementioned Murati, Nikola Tonev and Darko Glishic. Interestingly, Glishic rarely plays for Vardar, where he is third on the depth chart at left-back behind Goran Popov and Blagoja Ljamchevski, but he got the nod.

The midfield features two mild surprises in Gligor Gligorov and Bojan Najdenov. Both provide versatility and have been formerly capped by the youth national teams. Najdenov, in particular, did play for the senior national team in two friendlies against China back in the summer of 2014, while Boshko Gjurovski was still manager.

In attack, Angelovski will try out veteran guys who are mostly in their late 20's/early 30's, the only exception there being Marjan Altiparmakovski who is 24 years old. Izair Emini was summoned even though he hasn't played in several weeks for Renova. He is sitting out and refusing to train or play since he says Renova hasn't paid him in four months. Renova, on the other hand, thinks Shkendija illegally talked to Emini and manipulated him to sit out until the end of the first half of the season. Izair becomes a free agent this winter.

Igor Aleksovski, Mevlan Murati, Boban Nikolov and Marjan Radeski are all regulars for the U21 national side. Their presence on this roster is a strong signal that Angelovski may be looking to promote them permanently. Many of the U21 guys play domestically, so the fact that Angelovski focused on these four players bodes well for them. Now, it will be upon them to take advantage of the opportunity.

As for Nikola Gligorov, Milovan Petrovic, Bazhe Ilijoski and Vladica Brdarovski, the four national team players who are based in Macedonia and played in last month's friendlies against Montenegro and Lebanon, they were not considered. That was the plan all along, and Angelovski said as much when he disclosed this idea to the public.

Marko Jovanovski - Shkendija
Igor Aleksovski - Makedonija GjP

Goran Siljanovski - Rabotnichki
Mevlan Murati - Shkupi
Kire Ristevski - Rabotnichki
Nikola Tonev - Bregalnica
Mite Cikarski - Rabotnichki
Darko Glishic - Vardar

Boban Nikolov - Vardar
Armend Alimi - Shkendija
Bojan Najdenov - Turnovo
Gligor Gligorov - Sileks
Marjan Radeski - Shkendija

Besart Ibraimi - Shkendija
Dejan Blazhevski - Vardar
Izair Emini - Renova
Marjan Altiparmakovski - Rabotnichki
Filip Ivanovski - Vardar

When it comes to snubs, the players that come to mind include Ardian Cuculi, Dushko Trajchevski, Goran Popov and Boban Grncharov. However, concerning the last two guys, they are pretty much blacklisted from the national team. Both Popov and Grncharov have been very critical, and vocal, about their disgust towards the Macedonian federation.

The 18 players that were called up will feature in two games on December 12 and 14. First, they will meet the best foreigners from the domestic league, and then face a select U21 national side managed by Blagoja Milevski. The foreigners, meanwhile, will be coached by Shkendija boss Shpetim Duro. Milevski and Duro will announce their squads in the coming days.
