Bulgaria will first travel to Portugal to face their national team in a friendly on March 25 and then will head back to the Balkans to play with Macedonia on the 29th. For that occasion Petev decided to try some new thing by calling Makendzhiev, Bozhikov, Zehirov, Nedyalkov, Karabelyov, Marcelinho and Tasev who don't have any senior national team appearance so far. 31-year-old Marcelinho is actually a former Brazilian U20 national team player who spent the last 5 years playing in Bulgaria and because of that qualifies to represent this country.

Standard players like Valeryi Bozhinov, Georgi Milanov and Stanislav Manolev weren't summoned.
