Filip Gachevski becomes latest addition for Vardar

Filip Gachevski moves to Vardar as a free agent after his contract expired with Bregalnica at the conclusion of the 2014-15 season. This transfer is somewhat surprising because Vardar already has an established goalkeeper in Tome Pachovski. Tome is getting up there in age, he will soon be 33 years old, but he is fully entrenched as the starter.

Gachevski, 24, is coming off a very productive season for Bregalnica where he broke the domestic league record by going 912 minutes without conceding a goal. Due to that form, he even received a call-up for the first time to the senior national team of Macedonia. He backed up Pachovski on the national team, and now his job will be to push Pachovski at Vardar. Competition is always good, but going to Vardar may hurt Gachevski's standing on the national team.

Vardar has been the most active team domestically in the summer transfer window. They are also on the verge of adding Darko Velkovski from Rabotnichki. Furthermore, Vardar is searching for a center forward as well. Since the club leaves for Austria tomorrow, look for most of the transfers to be completed prior to their departure.

Gachevski signed a 3 year deal with Vardar.
